Property details

The Parlour - is a luxurious 2 bedroom property that sleeps 5 people. In addition to this it has a sofa bed. This cottage was a working milking parlour in the last few years until it was converted in to holiday accommodation.

The property has stunning views over the rolling fields of Meath as well as the courtyard. It's features include:

Ground Floor: Spacious kitchen dining room overlooking courtyard. Living room with satellite TV. Downstairs toilet. First Floor: Double bedroom with en-suite. Double/twin bedroom with en-suite.

SPECIFICATIONS - Ground Floor

Kitchen/Dining Room: 17'6" x 10'4" A large, bright living space fitted with a country style fully fitted kitchen including fully integrated dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer. There is also an electric hob, oven and microwave oven. Granite worktops and a double belfast sink and marble flooring complete the kitchen. Overlooks courtyard.

Living Room: 17'6" x 10'4" Spacious living room with oak wooden floors and a multifuel stove set into the chimney breast. Sofas, coffee table, satellite TV/DVD/Video player and stereo. View over courtyard. Stairs to first floor

Bedroom 1: 17'6" x 12' Double bedroom with pocket sprung bed, solid oak furniture and oak floors. Ensite with corner bath, marble floors and underfloor heating. Heated towel rail. View over courtyard.

Bedroom 2: 16'x 14' Triple bedroom with pocket sprung zip and link beds which can be separated and a separate single bed with pocket sprung mattress . Solid oak furniture and floors. En-suite bathroom with walk in wet room rain shower, marble floor with underfloor heating and heated towel rail.

Area activities

We are 4 miles from Navan which is the local shopping town. Here you will find quaint pubs and restaurants, a cinema, theatre, library, tourist office, swimming pools, river walks and a shopping centre as well as go karting, paint balling, archery and a kids playzone. Locally there is golf, fishing, horse riding, horse racing, walking and cycling. Meath is the historical capital of Ireland, so prepare to be blown away by the wealth of historical sites in the area including Newgrange, Tara, Slane, Trim and Kells.

From Dublin Airport By Bus

There is a now an hourly bus service froom Navan to the airport. The service is the 109A. You wil need to get off at Garlow Cross. (The driver will advise you where this is.) There is a pub here called the Tara Na Ri. From here you can be collected (By prior arrangement).

From Dublin Airport by Car

Follow the signs for the Exit/M50 Southbound. Once on the M50, look out for the exit for the  N3/M3 to Cavan. Take this exit. Once on the N3/ M3 head towards Navan. (The N3 changes to the M3). You will pass a tolling station where you will need to pay €1.30.  After the toll continue on until you come to junction 7 for Tara, Skryne, Johnstown and Kilmessan. Take this exit. At  the roundabout, take the 3rd exit for Johnstown and Kilmessan. At the next roundabout take the first exit for Johnstown/Kilmessan.  Continue for approx 500 meters and then turn right just before the Tara Na Ri pub. There is a brown sign for Decoy Country Cottages. Continue for 1.5 miles. Look out for a sign for Decoy Country Cottages on the left. There are two sets of black electric gates. The first set is for the cottages.

From Dublin Port by car

When you arrive at Dublin Port, follow the exit signs to the M1/M50. You will have the option to go through the Dublin Port Tunnel. This is a tolled tunnel and the toll varies from €3 - €12 depending on the day of the week and the time of day. Peak time is Monday - Friday. If you use the tunnel it will bring you out on to the M1 and you will then need to follow the signs for the M50/Airport. Once on the M50 take the exit (No 5) for the M2/N2 Derry/Ashbourne. If you want to avoid the tunnel take the left before the tunnel. At the first traffic lights, turn right. Continue straight all the way until you come to a T junction. Turn right at the T junction. Then follow the signs for the M50/Airport. Once on the M50 take exit 5 for the M2/N2 Derry/Ashbourne.   Head north on the M2/ N2. Once the dual carriageway finishes, you will come to a roundabout, take the exit for Slane. Keep heading north. Look out for a sign on the left for the R153 Navan. Take this left. Go past the Texaco garage on the right and look out for a sign (on right) for Tara, Trim and Decoy Country Cottages. Take this left. Continue on this road for approx 3 miles and look out for sign on right for Decoy Country Cottages. Turn in through the stone pillars.

From Dunlaoghaire Port by Car

Follow the signs for the M50/N11. Take the M50 Northbound and once you have crossed the Toll Bridge , take the first exit for the N3/M3 Navan/ Cavan.  Please note that the toll bridge is now a barrier free toll so you will have to pay the toll of €3 by phoning the Lo Call number 1890 50 10 50. You can also pay at many garages. You will have to ask as they do not always advertise this. Once on the N3/ M3 head towards Navan. (The N3 changes to the M3). From Rosslaire Harbour by car

Follow the signs for Dublin/N11. Take the N11 northbound. This will take you all the way to the M50 in Dublin. Once on the M50, head northbound, and once you have crossed the Toll Bridge,  take the first exit for the M3, Navan/Cavan. From Dublin City Centre by bus

Go to BusAras (Central Bus station) . From here you need to take the service to Navan/Cavan.(109) You will need to get off at Garlow Cross. (The driver will advise you where this is.) There is a pub here called the Tara Na Ri. From here you can be collected (By prior arrangement).

From Belfast

Follow the signs for Dublin and Newry. Once on the M1, head south and take the exit for Collon. Follow the signs for Slane. Once in Slane you will come to Traffic lights. Head straight on for Ashbourne. Head south for approx 8 miles on the N2 and look out for a small post office on your left, and a sign for R153 Navan. Take right turn here. Go past Texaco garage. Look out for sign (on right) for Tara, Trim and Decoy Country Cottages. Take left here. Follow road for approx 3 miles. Look out for sign on right for Decoy Country Cottages. Turn in through stone pillars.

 

Airports

Dublin airport is 40 minutes away and Belfast airport is 90 minutes by car.

Other transport

The 109 bus Eireann service runs regularly from the local bus stop (1.5 miles away) to Dublin and Navan The nearest train stations are Drogheda (30 mins) and Dublin Heuston (50 mins) Ferry Rosslaire ferry post is 2.5 hours away and you can get there from Fishguard and Pembroke Dublin Ferry port is 50 mins away and you can get here from Hollyhead. It is also possible to get to Belfast from Liverpool and the Isle of Man

Policies & disclaimers

Terms & Conditions Decoy Country Cottages, Garlow Cross, Navan, County Meath. Ireland

1. Deposit A booking for a holiday becomes firm when a deposit of 20% of the holiday cost (to the nearest Euro) together with a completed booking form is received by us. Up to that time it is a provisional booking. Provisional bookings are held for a maximum of 7 days. Remittances must be made in Euro’s .

2. VAT The holiday price includes Value Added Tax at thirteen and a half percent. If rates of VAT change, we reserve the right to amend prices accordingly.

3. Final Payment The full balance of the total holiday cost is payable not later then four weeks before the holiday begins. Reminders or receipts will not be sent unless requested. If the full balance is not paid on time we reserve the right to cancel the holiday, in which case the deposit will be forfeited.

4. Cancellation charges If you have to cancel your holiday for whatever reason, we will do our best to re-let the cancelled booking and refund your rental in full less an administration charge of €75.00. If however we do not succeed we reserve the right to make a cancellation charge under the following structure; * 64- 42 days loss of deposit. * 42 - 22 days: 60% of total rental. * Less than 21 days: 100% of total rental. * A minimum cancellation charge of €75.00 applies. Cancellation must be notified by telephone as soon as possible and followed by written confirmation. *

5. Our Right to Refuse We reserve the right to refuse any booking and, in exceptional circumstances, to cancel, modify or alter arrangements made for the Visitor. If a booking had to be cancelled, modified or altered by us we will make every effort to offer an alternative holiday. If the Visitor does not accept the alternative holiday offered, we will return to him/her any monies paid whereupon our liability will cease.

6. Change of Booking There will be a fee of €30.00 for any transferred booking, and bookings may not be transferred within one month prior to the Visitor’s holiday. A transferred booking is from one cottage to another or from one date to another. If the transfer also involves reducing the length of holiday e.g. from two weeks to one week, it will be regarded as a cancellation and will fall under our Holiday Cancellation Conditions.

7. Visitor Accommodation Limitation Accommodation at all times is limited to the number of persons for whom the booking is made, and the maximum number in each cottage must not exceed that stated in the brochure.

8. Joint bookings Where two parties join forces to take a holiday cottage, the booking should be made in one name only – that person (the Visitor) to be responsible for all payments and any damage.

9. Services All charges for gas, electricity and water services are included in holiday price.

10. Loss of Visitor Property We cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to any belongings, or for injury sustained by the Visitor or members of his/her party during their stay at the holiday property. We exclude liability for loss or damage to any belongings, or for injury Sustained to the Visitor or member of his/her party during their stay at the holiday property.

11. Right of Entry We and our agents reserve the right to enter any cottage at any reasonable time on reasonable cause.

12. Visitor Obligations The Visitor undertakes to keep the premises and all furniture fixtures and effects in the same state of repair and condition as at the commencement of the booking period (reasonable wear and tear excepted) and shall pay to us the value of any part of the premises furniture, fixtures, fittings and effects so destroyed or damaged. Breakages and damage should be reported as soon as possible.

13. Property Cleanliness The Visitor and members of his/her party are asked to leave the accommodation clean and tidy. We reserve the right to make a charge for extra cleaning if the accommodation is not left in a satisfactory condition.

14. Family Occupation The accommodation is designed for family use, not for youth groups or student parties. Sleeping in tents or motor vehicles adjacent to the accommodation is not permitted.

15. Advance Bookings Most cottages can be booked at least a year in advance. It is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment, particularly over school holiday periods.

16. Access The cottages have a car park for guests only and visitors are requested to park in the car park at all times except when unloading or loading cases etc. on arrival or departure.

17. Bicycles If you bring a bicycle/s on holiday, please do not take them into the cottage.

18. Complaints Every care is taken to ensure that our cottages are presented to visitors to a high standard. Should you find on arrival that there is a problem, or cause for complaint, please let us know immediately. Every effort will then be made to assist you. It is frustrating for all parties if you write after your holiday and tell us about a problem that could have been solved had we known at the time. We value every booking and want all visitors to enjoy their holidays and to return to The Cottages.
